Catholic Charities Adoption Services is a full-service, non-profit, child placing agency that offers domestic and international adoption. We provide services to birthparents and families considering adoption. We serve those of all religious and ethnic backgrounds within the greater New Orleans area. Our agency is staffed by certified open-adoption practitioners, experienced in maternity and adoption services, who believe every child deserves a safe, loving home. Domestic Adoption Services Birthparent Services The domestic adoption program provides confidential counseling services for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and considering adoption. Our services also include adoption education, financial and medical assistance and legal counsel thorough our agency attorney. We offer counseling and support before, during and after the birth of the child, regardless of the ultimate decision to place or parent. Adoptive Family Services Each year we accept new families interested in adopting an infant in the United States into our Domestic Adoption Program. To be eligible, families must be between the ages of 27 and 45, reside in Louisiana and have no more than two children. Families are interviewed, screened and required to attend educational classes to prepare them for the adoption process. Most families receive a placement within one to two years of entering our program. International Adoption Services For families choosing to adopt a child outside of the country, Catholic Charities provides international adoption services for children in Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The family chooses an international agency, with Catholic Charities providing the home study and post-placement services. In most instances, placement is 10 to 15 months after completion of the home study.
